Held in Brussels from 2 to 5 March 2026, Civil Society Week 2026 brought together organisations, activists, institutions, youth representatives, volunteers, and community leaders from across Europe to reflect on one essential idea: strong societies are built when people are included, heard, and empowered to act.

Throughout the week, important conversations took place on democracy, social cohesion, participation, resilience, volunteering, and the future of civic space in Europe. More than just a series of discussions, the event created a shared space for exchange, inspiration, and collective commitment. It showed that, even in times of uncertainty, civil society continues to be a powerful force for solidarity, innovation, and hope.

At the same time, we are especially proud to support the contribution of our partner CEV – Centre for European Volunteering, whose session “Volunteering & Social Economy: Building up Europe’s Resilience” highlighted the vital role of volunteering and the social economy in addressing some of Europe’s most pressing challenges. The discussion powerfully underlined how IVY2026 can serve as a catalyst for new partnerships, stronger coordination, and a more coherent European approach to volunteering — one that recognises its shared role in building resilient, inclusive, and democratic societies.

ASV proudly supports both Civil Society Week 2026 and this important CEV-led activity. We strongly believe that volunteering, participation, and cooperation across sectors and borders are essential for creating lasting positive change. Events like these are a valuable reminder that civil society is not standing on the sidelines of Europe’s future — it is actively shaping it.
At ASV, we remain committed to promoting volunteering, strengthening community engagement, and supporting inclusive opportunities for people of all ages. Because when civil society grows stronger, our communities grow stronger too.
